Day on the River

We spent the day traveling from Phnom Penh to Kampong Cham but did have a stop at Oknha Tay to see how they raise cocoons and make silk products on traditional looms.  Our mode of transportation once on the island was another Tuk Tuk…definitely more preferred than than the rickshaws!  On the 15 minute ride back to the silk village, we saw a lot of beautiful stupas where Buddhist put the ashes of their deceased

Alms giving to the monks.  They walk around towns
with their bowls and if people feel called to give
some food they do.  Monks do not beg for food.

We spent the rest of the day sailing upstream and just relaxing.  As Ut keeps telling us, we need to rest up for Angkor Wat so we all have energy for the bucket list place.  On Thursday, we will disembark the boat and head to Siem Reap so we took advantage of the day to start packing so we could enjoy tomorrow afternoon in Kampong Cham.  Here are a few sights along the river today.

Local Viking crew “mooring” the boat.  You can’t see
but he uses a large branch to secure the rope to the ground.
