What a FAB-U-LOUS time we had at Christmas Prelude!! It was my first visit to the Kennebunkport area and I LOVED it...it was the quintessential Maine I imagined.
Lobsters and Bouys are popular decorations for the holidays in Maine.

Fortunately we had a lot of walking to do to walk off the meal. After visiting a few shops, we got the scoop on the tree lighting in the Lower Village and walked over that way. We had a little time before the lighting and popped into Port Bakery for hot apple cider and heat (can anyone say burrrr).

Just before the lighting, we headed over to the tree and were entertained by the Kennebunk High Chamber Choir. They were TERRIFIC! After the lighting, we headed back into Kennebunkport for more shopping and then headed back to Salem, NH (where my friends live). There was a caroling procession to the monestary but it was a bit too cold for my friends (and they're the Yankees and I'm the Southerner!!) but I would have loved to seen it as I hear it is beautiful.

On the way home, we drove through Portsmouth, NH to look at lights...we were 30 minutes late for taking the candlelight tour of historic Portsmouth homes...next trip. We went to Newburyport, NH on Friday night for coffee and dessert at Cafe Di Sienna...again, yum yum. I feel like I ate my way through New Hampshire and Maine on this short trip!
This trip really made me miss living in New England during the winter...but then again, I don't miss shoveling 2 feet of snow so I think I'll stick with the visits!
